Study Shows Canadians Should Trim the Fat, Increase the Supplements
Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) November 15, 2006 -- The results are in, and Canadians are still not eating well.
In the country's first study of dietary habits in almost 35 years, the Canadian Community Health Survey reported that the majority of Canadians are eating an abundant amount of fatty foods and falling far short when it comes to eating enough fruits and vegetables. The findings, meanwhile, don't surprise Dr. Paul Gross, founder of Berry Health Inc., a Vancouver-based company which has produced groundbreaking new berry based supplements.
"Canadians and Americans have no excuses for not having better diets," said Gross, an expert on antioxidant drugs and a founding member of the International Berry Health Assoc. "Apparently because of converging factors of preference for nutrient-poor foods with appealing tastes, oversized portions and an absence of physical activity, Canadians continue to gain weight."
The study shed light on several factors in the Canadian diet, including the fact that more than a quarter of adults in their 30s and 40s get more than 31 percent of their daily caloric intake from fat. That's progress, however, since the number was higher during the last results released in the 1970s.
The fruit and vegetable numbers were dismal as well, especially in Canadian children. Seven of 10 children don't eat the recommended five per day. In adults, the statistics were five in 10. The Canadian program, as well as the American one, recommends five or more servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Regionally, the habits of Quebec citizens trumped those in the Atlantic region of Canada. Quebecers were less likely to eat fast-food and more likely to eat fruits and vegetables.
The recognition of poor diets, even in areas of the world where consumers are educated and have the opportunity to improve health through sound dietary practices, is one of the reasons Gross launched his products in May. An expert on cardiovascular and brain physiology, Gross created two convenient supplements - Berry Wise Antioxidant and Berry Wise Antioxidant & Fiber - that are available in both the United States and Canada at www.Berrywiseinc.com. The berry-based drinks provide natural fiber sources, and include nine berries, 12 essential vitamins, nine minerals, and a high dose of antioxidants, commonly recognized as a cancer preventative. Dr. Gross’s free CD on antioxidants and health can also be found at www.berrywiseonline.com.
Along with traditional favourites blueberry, cranberry and strawberry, Berry Wise products also include the much-publicized Brazilian palmberry, or acai, which has gained a reputation as one of the most powerful antioxidant foods in the world.

Are Your Nutrition Habits Robbing You from the Body You Desire?
What if by making a few small changes in your nutrition and eating habits you could add up to a 50% gain in muscle mass and loose up to 18% extra fat.Well you could be robbing yourself of these gains just by not eating correctly and at the right times.
So What Essential Vitamins And Nutrients Does My Body Really Need?
This was a question I had been asking myself for a while. The fact is a large number of vitamin, mineral and antioxidant products just can't give your body what it needs everyday to maintain optimal cellular protection from the free radicals and oxidative stress that are the root cause of almost all of the chronic degenerative diseases that plague the western world today. Now I could go into the real nuts and bolts of how and why we are living too short and dying too long in todays toxic society but that will have to be another article.
